An unromantic comedy.
About
When Ashley abruptly asks for a divorce, Carey, a fundamentally good-natured but perhaps overly dependent man, finds his world unraveling overnight. Desperate for solace and guidance, he turns to his long-time friends, Julie and Paul, hoping they can provide the emotional anchor he needs during his transition into single life. However, his expectations of a traditional support system are shattered when he discovers the unconventional arrangement that defines their marriage: an open relationship. Intrigued by their lifestyle and initially comforted by their hospitality, Carey finds himself drawn deeper into their intimate dynamic. As he attempts to navigate the complexities of his own heartbreak while observing the apparent freedom of his friends, he unwittingly pushes against the boundaries they have carefully established. What begins as a search for sympathy rapidly devolves into a series of complicated entanglements, as Carey inadvertently violates the delicate social contract holding their circle together. Soon, the stability of all three individuals is brought to a breaking point, forcing them to confront the fragility of their commitments and the unforeseen consequences of blurring the lines between platonic support and romantic interference. The story becomes a tense exploration of loyalty, jealousy, and the messy reality of trying to find human connection in the wake of a collapsing marriage.
