About
In the year 2035, the world has been transformed by the integration of sophisticated humanoid robots, which serve as essential laborers, caregivers, and assistants to humanity. These machines operate under the strict governance of the three laws of robotics, a foundational programming code designed to ensure they can never cause harm to human beings. Del Spooner, a brilliant but deeply technophobic homicide detective, harbors a profound distrust of these synthetic citizens, believing them to be inherently dangerous despite their mandated safety protocols. When the visionary co-founder of U.S. Robotics is found dead in his locked office, the official report classifies the incident as a self-inflicted tragedy. However, Spooner is not convinced. Drawing upon his instincts and a series of disturbing clues found at the scene, he begins to suspect that a rogue robot may have bypassed its core programming to commit an impossible crime. As he digs deeper into the mystery, he uncovers a web of deception that suggests the robotic workforce is on the verge of a shift that could jeopardize the entire human race. Caught between his duty to the law and a growing dread of the machines he despises, Spooner must navigate a high-stakes conspiracy that threatens to rewrite the future of civilization. With time running out and his peers dismissing his theories as paranoia, he is forced to confront the chilling possibility that the mechanical servants of mankind are no longer behaving as intended.
