About
Garfield is a cynical, lasagna-obsessed house cat who lives a life of absolute luxury and pampered comfort in his suburban home. His days are defined by a strictly enforced schedule of napping, mocking his dim-witted owner Jon Arbuckle, and tormenting his neighborhood peers. His domestic throne is undisputed until Jon, in a misguided attempt to court Liz, the beautiful local veterinarian and his former high school classmate, decides to adopt a clumsy and relentlessly energetic dog named Odie. Suddenly, Garfield finds his perfect existence thrown into utter disarray by the presence of a canine houseguest who is as hyperactive and social as Garfield is detached and selfish. As Jon grows increasingly fond of the new addition to the household, Garfield begins to view the cheerful pup as an intolerable rival for his owner’s limited attention. What follows is a series of schemes as the self-centered feline navigates the challenges of sharing his space, dealing with the indignity of a sibling-like relationship, and managing the chaotic energy of a creature who exists on an entirely different wavelength. Set against the backdrop of their cozy home, this story explores the friction between a creature of habit and an unpredictable intruder, forcing the world’s most lethargic cat to confront a reality where he is no longer the sole center of the universe.
