Civil War veteran John Carter finds his life taking an extraordinary turn when he is mysteriously transported from the American West to the harsh, crimson landscape of Barsoom, a dying world known to Earth as Mars. Upon his arrival, Carter discovers that his earthly physiology grants him superhuman strength and the ability to leap great distances in the planet's unique gravity, making him a powerful asset in a land teeming with strange creatures and warring civilizations. As he navigates the complex social hierarchies of the multi-armed Tharks and the advanced, shifting political landscape of the Red Planet, the once-cynical soldier must decide if he will remain an outsider or embrace a new destiny as the unlikely hero upon whom the future of an entire civilization depends. Surrounded by ancient mysteries and facing overwhelming odds, Carter must reconcile his past failures with his newfound responsibility to protect a world that is desperate for salvation.
