Thirteen years after a mortifying and disastrous prom night, Ted Stroehmann remains hopelessly hung up on his high school dream girl, Mary Jensen. Driven by lingering regret and the persistent hope for a second chance, Ted decides to hire a private investigator named Pat Healy to track her down in Miami. However, Ted’s quest for redemption quickly turns into a chaotic competition when Healy discovers that Mary is just as beautiful and desirable as ever. After falling head over heels for Mary himself, the dishonest detective begins feeding Ted a series of blatant lies to keep the two apart. As Ted eventually decides to take matters into his own hands and travel to Florida, he finds himself caught in an increasingly absurd web of deceit, realizing that he is not the only man vying for Mary’s attention.
