Jon Martello is a prototypical New Jersey guy whose life revolves around a strictly ordered routine consisting of his gym sessions, his tight-knit circle of friends, his family dinners, and his regular attendance at church. Despite his outward charm and apparent success with women, Jon hides a compulsive reliance on pornography that dictates his perception of romance. This private obsession creates a significant disconnect between his expectations and the reality of genuine human connection. When he meets Barbara, a vibrant and opinionated woman who adheres to her own traditional standards of dating, Jon attempts to reconcile his secret lifestyle with the prospect of a traditional, committed relationship. As he navigates the complexities of this new romance, he is forced to confront the damaging patterns he has developed and must determine if he is capable of evolving toward true intimacy.
