They weren't born in the wild... They were shipped there.
About
Life inside the Central Park Zoo is nothing short of pampered luxury for Alex the lion, Marty the zebra, Melman the giraffe, and Gloria the hippo. Alex revels in his status as the king of the zoo, while Marty harbors secret dreams of experiencing the vast, untamed wilderness beyond his enclosure. When a series of curious events leads the four friends to inadvertently escape their comfortable surroundings, their attempt to reunite quickly spirals into chaos. They find themselves crated and shipped across the ocean, only to be shipwrecked on the exotic and uncharted island of Madagascar. Suddenly stripped of their daily feedings and protective fences, these lifelong city dwellers must navigate a strange, jungle environment that operates on entirely different rules than they are accustomed to. As they encounter the local wildlife and grapple with their own survival instincts, the group is forced to confront the fundamental differences between the domesticated existence they left behind and the primal realities of their new home. This unexpected journey challenges their friendship and tests their ability to adapt to a world where they are no longer the stars of the exhibit.
