Wallace Bryton is an arrogant and cynical podcaster who travels to the remote reaches of Manitoba, Canada, to interview a man for his popular show. When his scheduled subject proves to be a disappointment, Wallace finds himself wandering further into the isolated wilderness in search of a more compelling story. He eventually encounters an eccentric elderly seaman named Howard Howe, who regales him with mesmerizing tales of his life spent at sea. However, as the night descends and the conversation deepens, Wallace begins to realize that the hospitality offered by his mysterious host hides a far more sinister agenda. After Wallace suddenly goes missing, his podcast co-host, Teddy Craft, and his girlfriend, Allison, realize something is terribly wrong and embark on a desperate journey to find him.
