When every college turned them down. . . they made one up.
About
After receiving a streak of rejection letters from every university he applied to, high school senior Bartleby Gaines faces a terrifying future of disappointment and parental disapproval. Desperate to maintain his facade of academic success and appease his frustrated family, Bartleby concocts an elaborate scheme to create his own phantom institution, the South Harmon Institute of Technology. With the help of his equally directionless friends, he transforms an abandoned psychiatric facility into a makeshift campus complete with a website and a convincing facade. However, what begins as a simple ruse to buy time quickly spirals out of control when the fake website accidentally accepts hundreds of other rejected students who arrive at the property expecting a legitimate education. Stuck between the need to keep his secret hidden and the sudden reality of hundreds of peers relying on him, Bartleby must navigate the complexities of running a school, managing an eccentric teaching staff, and keeping the truth from an unforgiving community that demands academic excellence. As the boundaries between his elaborate lie and a genuine educational experience begin to blur, the group must decide whether to abandon the project or transform their improvised institution into something that serves the needs of the outcasts who have nowhere else to go.
