In early nineteenth-century Germany, brothers Jake and Will Grimm earn their living as wandering charlatans who travel between desperate villages, posing as exorcists and supernatural experts to fleece the superstitious public. By staging elaborate, fake hauntings and orchestrating theatrical battles against make-believe monsters, they have built a profitable business out of exploiting local fears. However, their elaborate ruse falls apart when they are apprehended by ruthless military authorities and forced into a harrowing mission. The brothers are sent to a remote, fog-shrouded village bordering an ancient, sprawling forest where young girls have been disappearing under impossible circumstances. Faced with the threat of execution if they fail, Jake and Will must enter the woods, where they quickly discover that the malevolent forces at work are far beyond their amateur theatrics. Trapped in a world where the dark fables they once fabricated have come to life with lethal intent, the brothers must confront genuine supernatural terrors and navigate a sinister landscape to determine if they possess the true courage required to survive an authentic curse.
