Medical researcher Frank is driven to the edge of possibility with his fiancée, Zoe, and a small team of fellow scientists as they pursue a breakthrough that challenges everything medicine thought it knew. After a pioneering, unsanctioned demonstration on a lifeless animal suggests the dead can be brought back, Frank and Zoe prepare to share their findings with the world, only to have their plans abruptly halted when their dean discovers what they’ve been doing and moves to shut the project down. Tragedy soon follows as Zoe is killed during an effort to reproduce their results, forcing Frank to confront the limits of his ethics and his grief. With the clock of loss against him, he makes the decision to test the revival process on Zoe herself, wagering everything on whether the miracle they witnessed can be repeated—and whether bringing someone back is as safe, controllable, and human as it seems.
