When King Harold suddenly passes away, the responsibility of ruling the kingdom of Far Far Away unexpectedly falls upon his daughter, Princess Fiona, and her ogre husband, Shrek. While the prospect of royalty appeals to many, Shrek finds the idea of palace life and official duties utterly daunting, longing instead to return to the simple, swampy comforts of his home.
