About

A. Rimbaud follows the French writer Arthur Rimbaud from his restless schoolboy days in Charleville through the tumult of adolescence, ambition, and self-invention that pushes him beyond the limits of ordinary life. As he grows, Rimbaud’s hunger for new languages, new forms of expression, and a wider horizon draws him into intense relationships and volatile encounters that challenge what he believes art is for and what it costs to pursue it. The story moves between the familiar rhythms of provincial France and the widening pull of distant places, shaping Rimbaud’s journey as both personal and artistic, driven by his drive to escape the roles others assign him and his insistence on chasing a life he can’t yet fully name. In its sweeping account, the film frames Rimbaud’s final years in Africa as the ultimate test of endurance and conviction, where faith in vision collides with physical hardship, moral complexity, and the uncertainty of what a dream means when it becomes a way of surviving.
