About
In the remote, mist-shrouded mountain village of Gokseong, a sudden and inexplicable plague begins to ravage the local population. The affliction manifests as a violent, delirious madness that drives the infected to commit unspeakable acts against their own kin, leaving the community paralyzed by terror and confusion. Suspicion quickly falls upon a reclusive Japanese newcomer who has recently settled in the surrounding forest, leading many to fear that something supernatural has been unleashed upon their quiet home. Jong-goo, a bumbling and hesitant local police officer, finds himself thrust into the heart of the investigation as he struggles to maintain order amidst the rapidly escalating chaos. However, the stakes become personal and agonizingly high when his own young daughter begins to exhibit the same chilling symptoms that have claimed his neighbors. As the line between sanity and hysteria blurs, Jong-goo must navigate a treacherous landscape of folk superstition, religious fervor, and deep-seated paranoia to uncover the truth. Driven by a desperate father's instinct to protect his child, he embarks on a harrowing journey to confront the encroaching darkness before it consumes everything he holds dear, unaware of the complex and ancient forces that may be at play in the shadows of the woods.
