In seventeenth-century France, a headstrong and ambitious young man named D'Artagnan journeys to Paris with a single-minded dream of joining the legendary Musketeers, the elite guard sworn to protect the royal family. Upon his arrival, however, he discovers that the prestigious unit has been officially disbanded under the manipulative influence of Cardinal Richelieu, a powerful and devious political force who seeks to destabilize the monarchy and seize control of the throne for his own gain.
