About
In Sex Weather (2018), sleepy-eyed filmmaker Darrel wakes to an unsettling surprise in the place where he least expects it: in bed with his crew member Sydney. Morning settles in, and with it comes the awkwardness of remembering what led them there, along with the tension of working closely in a creative environment where feelings can’t be neatly separated from the job. As Darrel tries to make sense of the previous evening, he and Sydney begin talking through their thoughts about his new film and the tepid reactions it has received, using the conversation as a way to measure what they really mean to each other. What starts as uneasy recollection and practical concern quickly becomes something more intimate and honest, raising the question of what happens when two people finally choose to speak plainly instead of waiting for the right moment that never seems to arrive.
