Under the devoted care of his human companion, Linda, Blu has become perfectly comfortable with his indoor lifestyle, even though he has never learned how to fly. Their quiet, predictable routine is turned upside down when an eccentric ornithologist arrives with startling news: Blu is the last male of his species. To ensure the survival of his kind, Blu must travel to Rio de Janeiro to meet Jewel, the only known surviving female. What begins as a scientific mission quickly spirals into chaos when the pair is kidnapped by a group of ruthless bird poachers. Bound together by a tether and a lack of common ground, the mismatched duo must rely on each other to escape their captors and navigate the vibrant, dangerous, and unfamiliar urban landscape of Rio.
