In a world populated entirely by anthropomorphic animals, a dapper and eternally optimistic koala named Buster Moon finds himself at a professional crossroads. Desperate to restore the venue to its former glory and save his legacy, Buster devises a daring plan to host the world's greatest singing competition. He broadcasts an open audition, drawing a diverse array of hopefuls from all walks of life, each carrying their own personal baggage and hidden dreams. Among the contestants are a stressed-out mother pig juggling dozens of piglets, a talented but shy teenage elephant with immense stage fright, a cocky street-smart mouse with a gambler's streak, and a soulful gorilla longing to forge his own path away from his family's criminal enterprise. As the auditions progress, the pressure mounts and the stakes rise, forcing this eccentric group of misfits to confront their insecurities and past failures.
