Bolt is the canine star of a high-octane television series where he believes he possesses genuine superhuman abilities, including incredible strength and a powerful sonic bark. Because he has lived his entire life on a meticulously crafted studio set designed to maintain the illusion of his world, he is convinced that his every action is reality and that his human co-star, a young girl named Penny, is in constant danger from sinister villains. The premise shifts dramatically when Bolt is accidentally separated from his life in Hollywood and finds himself stranded in the unfamiliar environment of New York City.
