After stealing the Tesseract during the chaos of the Avengers mission in New York, the mercurial god of mischief, Loki, finds his path abruptly diverted. Instead of vanishing into freedom, he is apprehended by the Time Variance Authority, an enigmatic and vast bureaucratic organization that exists beyond the boundaries of space and time. Charged with crimes against the sacred timeline, Loki is branded a time variant, an anomaly whose very existence threatens the stability of the universe.
