The aggressive unit "Shell Squad", led by the full-body cyborg Motoko Kusanagi.
About
Set in 2029 Japan, The Ghost in the Shell follows Motoko Kusanagi, a full cyborg whose relentless pursuit of certainty drives her to imagine a future where threats are stopped before they can take root. As the lines between human intention and machine capability blur, Kusanagi begins to see patterns that suggest an escalating wave of cyber and kinetic danger, and she pushes her own ideas about prevention toward the systems that govern society. Her vision catches the attention of Daisuke Aramaki, who recruits her into Public Security Section 9, an elite unit known as the Shell Squad. Working alongside specialists trained to operate in the gray zone of law and technology, the team is pulled into an international conspiracy tied to a mysterious hacker referred to only as The Puppet Master. The stakes rise as encrypted trails, compromised networks, and destabilizing acts of digital warfare force Section 9 to decide how far preemptive action should go, and what it means to defend both bodies and identities in a world where the most dangerous threats can be manufactured in code.
