Jaume Collet-Serra (born March 23, 1974) is a Spanish filmmaker whose work spans high-concept suspense, action, and studio-scale genre entertainment. He is known for directing crowd-pleasing thrillers and dark dramas such as House of Wax, Orphan, and Unknown, and for later expanding his scope with The Shallows, Jungle Cruise, and Black Adam. Collet-Serra’s directing style often emphasizes suspense, momentum, and accessible spectacle, whether the story is driven by a psychological hook or by an event-driven adventure premise. In addition to directing, he has contributed as a producer, including on projects in our catalog such as The Commuter and Retribution, where his involvement reflects a consistent focus on tightly paced narratives and commercially driven filmmaking. He is also a co-founder of Ombra Films.
